Brian Mazzarella, MD

Dr. Brian Mazzarella is a urologist in Austin, Texas, dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing the future of urology through clinical research. He grew up in Austin and attended the University of Texas, where he also served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, completed his surgical training at Parkland Hospital, and finished his urology residency at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Mazzarella treats a wide range of urologic conditions, with particular focus on prostate health (BPH), kidney stones, and minimally invasive, office-based procedures. He is known for taking time with patients, explaining options clearly, and helping each person choose the treatment path that fits their goals.

Dr. Mazzarella also serves as Vice President of Research for the Urology Alliance, where he leads efforts to expand access to clinical trials across multiple practices. He founded the clinical research program at Urology Austin and has helped build it into a nationally recognized site, offering patients access to the latest treatments and technologies before they are widely available. He has served as Principal Investigator on more than 50 clinical trials in areas including bladder cancer, prostate disease, medical devices, and diagnostics.

He is board-certified in urology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an ACRP Certified Principal Investigator. Dr. Mazzarella is actively involved in physician education and research collaboration, and he serves as Affiliate Faculty at Dell Medical School.

Outside of work, Dr. Mazzarella enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys skiing, tennis, traveling, and following University of Texas sports and Formula 1 racing.
