Marie Garza attended the University of Texas – Pan American and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation services and had an emphasis on addiction studies. She went on to attend Texas Woman’s university on the Dallas Campus where she graduated in 2014 with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Prior to joining Urology Austin as a pelvic floor therapist, Marie worked at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center for nine years. There she was part of a nationally ranked therapy team for inpatient rehabilitation and she was named Caregiver of the Year in 2021.

Marie always wanted to become a pelvic floor occupational therapist to help patients regain their independence and help empower them to live a full and active life. To be able to assist them in regaining their independence and re-learning ways to participate in their favorite activities is beyond rewarding. She also likes her work as an occupational therapist because of the holistic approach she can take in helping patients – and by looking at the patient as a whole, she finds it can help change the way they perceive themselves.
Marie is excited to be a part of the great therapy team at Urology Austin and is looking forward to growing as an occupational therapist and working to improve the lives of our patients.
When Marie is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is an avid reader, enjoys being crafty with arts/crafts or crocheting. And above all, spoiling her Yorkie, Eris.
