Education and Background
Dr. Agarwal completed medical school at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He completed his internship at Northwell Health in Long Island and then returned to SUNY Downstate for residency. He completed a fellowship in prostate brachytherapy.
Dr. Agarwal previously held academic appointments at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Maryland, where he specialized in genitourinary oncology and helped develop and expand prostate cancer treatment programs. His experience includes the management of localized, high-risk, recurrent, and metastatic prostate cancer, with an emphasis on integrating radiation therapy with systemic treatment and multidisciplinary urologic care.
He has particular expertise in modern, highly targeted radiation approaches for prostate cancer, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and proton therapy.
