James Frisbie, M.D. joined The Urology Group in 2026. Originally from Waynesboro, Virginia, he graduated summa cum laude from the Pennsylvania State University’s Schreyer Honors College with a B.S. in Immunology and Infectious Diseases. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he was elected President of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. At the conclusion of medical school, he received the A. Bradley Gaither Award for Excellence in Genitourinary Surgery.

Dr. Frisbie completed his surgical internship and urologic residency at the University of North Carolina. He has developed particular expertise in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), with advanced training in holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP), one of the most effective minimally invasive procedures for enlarged prostates. In addition to his clinical training in a wide range of general urology, He also received extensive robotic surgical training in the treatment of urologic cancers, including prostate and kidney cancer, as well as complex urologic reconstructive procedures.

During residency, Dr. Frisbie was recognized with numerous awards, including Resident of the Year, Research Resident of the Year, and Resident Scholar of the Year. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at regional and national urologic meetings.

Dr. Frisbie and his wife are excited to return to their home state of Virginia and now reside in Leesburg with their two children. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, staying active outdoors, and serving his local community.
