Dimitri Papagiannopoulos
, M.D.
“Dr Papa is a very compassionate person. I rarely see a doctor who is genually concerned about your well being. He listens without interruptions and explains exactly what is wrong with you in terms you can understand. I have never left an appt without completely understanding my current condition and the treatment being used to help. His office staff is also very helpful. On the few occasions I had a question outside of the office they were prompt to return my call and answer the question at hand. Docs a keeper.”
Dr. Dimitri Papagiannopoulos treats all general urologic conditions. His particular areas of expertise in minimally invasive surgery, complex kidney stone disease, and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Dr. Papagiannopoulos was raised in Naperville, Illinois. He attended Northwestern University where he graduated with departmental honors. He obtained his medical degree at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he finished near the top of his class. He had the opportunity to stay at Rush University for his residency in Urologic Surgery. During training, he was awarded intern of the year and was recognized by Rush Medical College for promoting a positive learning environment for students.
Dr. Papagiannopoulos went on to complete his formal training with a fellowship in Endourology and Robotics at the University of California, San Diego, and Kaiser Permanente. Here he was able to perfect his skills in minimally invasive surgery and complex stone procedures. Apart from a heavy clinical load, Dr. Papagiannopoulos had excellent research experience in training. As a result, he has numerous publications across the field of Urology and went on to receive several awards in research (1st place Rush Surgical Society, 3rd place Chicago Urological Society, 5th place Rush Surgical Society, Best Poster Society Internationale d’Urologie).
Dr. Papagiannopoulos is board certified by the American Board of Urology. He currently lives in Naperville with his wife. Away from work he enjoys spending time with family, reading, skiing, and playing basketball.
“After completing a well-rounded residency, I opted to pursue a fellowship in robotic surgery and complex stone diseases rather than enter practice immediately. This intensive year allowed me to sharpen my skills and learn new ones to better serve my patients as safely and efficiently as possible. Although these are areas of particular interest and expertise, I also enjoy practicing general urology, to offer insight and potential treatment into any urologic issue that my patients may have. I am extremely appreciative of the trust that patients place in me as their physician, a privilege that I refuse to take for granted.” – Dr. Dimitri Papagiannopoulos
