Dr. Brian Mazzarella is a board-certified urologist with Urology Austin.

Dr. Brian Mazzarella grew up in Austin and earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas. During college, Dr. “Mazz,” as he is often called now, worked part-time as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He went on to attend The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, completed his surgical internship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, and finished his urology training at the renowned University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.  In 2018, Dr. Mazz was inducted as a Fellow in the America College of Surgeons and in 2019 he because an Affiliate Faculty Member at Dell Medical School.

Dr. Mazzarella currently leads the clinical research program at Urology Austin. As Principal Investigator, he has overseen more than 50 clinical studies spanning prostate and bladder cancer, BPH, kidney stones, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics and others. He also serves as Vice President of Research for the Urology Alliance, where he helps guide and coordinate a national network of clinical trial sites advancing next-generation urologic therapies. He is one of only ~2% of investigators to earn a Certified Principal Investigator certification from the ACRP.

He has authored numerous publications and manuscripts, regularly presents at national conferences, and frequently serves on advisory boards. Outside of medicine, Dr. Mazzarella enjoys cooking, skiing, and spending time outdoors with his family. He is a devoted Longhorn, Austin FC, and Formula 1 fan.
